April 1st, 2013

Northeast Bank today announced that is has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Sexual Assault Response Services of Southern Maine (SARSSM) to support its violence prevention and anti-bullying programs in schools. The School-Based Education program services grades K-12 and is dedicated to teaching youth how to respond to and prevent bullying, as well as sexual violence.

“SARSSM is a well-respected organization known for its highly effective work with harassment prevention, education and awareness,” said Jim Delamater, President and CEO of the Northeast Community Banking Division. “We are fortunate to have an organization of SARSSM’s caliber in our city and are pleased to be supporting them.”

SARSSM’s School-Based Education Program offers age-appropriate curriculums that teach youth the importance of seeking support if they are or have been the victim of any mistreatment. Additionally, the program encompasses teacher and faculty training, ensuring that students receive the necessary support subsequent to a training session.

“The generous donation from Northeast Bank will enable us to provide free services to hundreds of youth in need,” said Amy Raina, Education Program Manager at SARSSM. “We cannot thank the bank enough for its kindness and support.”
