Richard Wayne, President and CEO

Richard Wayne is responsible for all of the company’s business divisions including the Northeast Community Banking Division, ableBanking, and the Loan Acquisition and Servicing Group. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Northeast Bank and Northeast Bancorp. Prior to joining Northeast, Mr. Wayne co-founded Capital Crossing Bank, in Boston, Massachusetts, where he served as its President and Co-Chief Executive Officer from 1991 until its sale in February 2007. Capital Crossing Bank was a national leader in the acquisition and management of commercial loans, purchasing over $2 billion of loans.

He holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, a LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law and a B.S. in Accounting from Syracuse University.

Claire Bean, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer

Claire Bean has responsibility for the company’s finance, accounting, technology and operations. She has a 25-year record in financial services in the Greater Boston area, with experience focused in balance sheet management, strategic planning, operations and information technology. Most recently, she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Benjamin Franklin Bancorp, from the company's initial public offering and simultaneous acquisition of Chart Bank in 2005 to its sale in 2009.

In the 1990s Ms. Bean was Chief Operating Officer and Treasurer of Grove Bank in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and subsequently co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer and a director of Lighthouse Bank, an Internet bank based in Waltham, Massachusetts. From 2002 to 2004, she worked in international economic development in Central Asia and Russia, serving as director of several microfinance programs designed to provide economic opportunity to the poor. Currently, Ms. Bean serves on the board of REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation and the Boston Advisory Council of Mercy Corp International. Ms. Bean holds an M.B.A. from the Simon School of the University of Rochester and a B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University.

Marcel Blais, Chief Operating Officer, Community Banking Division

Marcel Blais is responsible for the retail banking, loan administration and operational departments of the Community Banking Division. Mr. Blais joined the bank in 1997 and has over 34 years of banking experience, formerly with Casco Northern Bank and Bank of Boston. He is a lifetime Maine resident and has been associated with many professional and community organizations over the years.  He is a past President for the Sanford Rotary and past Vice Chair of the Sanford / Springvale Chamber of Commerce. He attended the University of Maine, Augusta and pursued coursework through the American Institute for Banking.

William DiFulvio, SVP and Chief Risk Officer

Bill DiFulvio is responsible for implementing and maintaining Northeast Bank’s enterprise risk management processes.  Enterprise risk management facilitates the Bank’s analysis of risks and controls across all of its business lines.  Prior to joining Northeast Bank, Mr. DiFulvio worked for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston for over ten years.

During his time at FHLB of Boston Mr. DiFulvio held several positions, including AVP Credit Officer and AVP Credit Research Manager.  In his most recent position he restructured FHLB of Boston’s approach to credit risk management.  Mr. DiFulvio graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in History and Political Science from Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts.

Patrick Dignan, Managing Director and Chief Credit Officer

Patrick Dignan is responsible for directing the credit policies of Northeast Bank, managing all loan underwriting and due diligence activities, and chairing the loan approval committees for both the Community Banking Division, and the Loan Acquisition and Servicing Group. Prior to joining Northeast Bank in 2010, Mr. Dignan was a Senior Vice President and Director of Real Estate at Capital Crossing Servicing Company and its predecessor firms: Capital Crossing, a Division of Lehman Brothers Bank, and Capital Crossing Bank.

While at Capital Crossing, Mr. Dignan played a central role in the development of its loan acquisition platform, and held senior positions in the loan acquisition and loan servicing areas. Prior to joining Capital Crossing in 1998, Mr. Dignan was a real estate consultant with Paragon Property Analysis, and R.M. Bradley Real Estate in Boston. He is involved with youth sports and municipal boards and committees in his hometown. Mr. Dignan holds a B.A. in Philosophy from St. John’s College, is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, and a member of the Counselors of Real Estate.

David Ellingrud, Managing Director

Dave Ellingrud focuses on sourcing and underwriting loan acquisition and servicing opportunities in the Loan Acquisition and Servicing Group. Prior to joining Northeast Bank, he was a Director at CarVal Investors, a value-oriented alternative asset fund. While at CarVal Investors, he underwrote and managed investment opportunities in the secondary commercial whole loan market, as well as developed, negotiated, and managed relationships with third party loan servicers. Prior to working at CarVal Investors, Mr. Ellingrud was a Senior Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company in their New York office.

He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and his A.B. in Applied Mathematics from Dartmouth College.

Christopher Hickey, Managing Director

Christopher Hickey is the Director of Asset Management at Northeast Bank, overseeing all aspects of the Bank’s commercial and managed loan portfolios nationwide.  With over 22 years of experience in banking and asset management, he possesses an extensive loan servicing background, completing or overseeing a wide range of resolution transactions all across the country and including most asset classes.  He is also experienced in foreclosure, liquidation and bankruptcy proceedings.

Prior to joining Northeast Bank in 2010, Christopher held various senior management positions at Capital Crossing Servicing Company and its predecessor firms, most recently as a Senior Vice President and Director of Asset Management.  Prior to joining Capital Crossing in 1998, he worked at the former Bank of New England, Recoll Management, and Fleet National Bank.  He holds a B.A. in history from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

Jeanne A. Hulit, President, Community Banking Division

Jeanne A. Hulit is responsible for leading Northeast Bank’s operations in Maine. Prior to joining Northeast Bank, Jeanne was the Acting Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration in Washington, DC.  Previously, she was responsible overseeing the agency’s loan programs as Associate Administrator for SBA’s Office of Capital Access, and served as SBA’s New England Regional Administrator. Over her 18 years in banking in Maine, Jeanne has held numerous leadership positions including Senior Vice President for Commercial Lending at Citizens Bank, Vice President and Middle Market Lender at KeyBank, N.A., and manager of Key’s International Banking Division. In addition, Jeanne served as Deputy Director of the International Division at the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development.
 

Jeanne’s leadership extends into her civic engagement including as founder and Chair of the Maine International Trade Center, Chair of The University of Southern Maine Board of Visitors, and Treasurer, Maine Port Authority.  She holds a B.A. in International Studies from American University.

Heidi Jacques, Director of Human Resources

Heidi Jacques oversees all aspects of human resources including talent management, compensation, employee benefits, and training. She works with hiring managers and the local community to communicate job opportunities and support employee growth. Ms. Jacques joined Northeast Bank from ING in Lewiston where she was Senior Human Resources Business Partner, overseeing the performance management, new hire orientation, and employee relations efforts for over 1,100 employees. She began her career in human resource consulting, working with a variety of businesses to fulfill employee hiring, orientation, and training needs.

Ms. Jacques was a Senior Human Resources Manager for AGERE Systems (formerly Lucent Technologies/AT&T), where she planned and directed human resource programs for two business units consisting of over 800 employees. She is an active member of the Lewiston/Auburn community, and has held leadership positions with the Central Maine Human Resources Association. She is also a member of the planning board for the Wellness Council of Androscoggin County. Ms. Jacques has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine and has completed master's coursework in Human Resources Management at Rutgers University. In addition, she has obtained Certifications in Human Resource Management from Rutgers and Cornell University.

Julie Jenkins, Director of Operations

Julie Jenkins is responsible for oversight of the Loan Servicing, Deposit Operations, Information Technology and Customer Contact Center departments of the Bank.  She ensures that all operational components are running effectively and remain current with ongoing compliance, risk management, and technology updates. Prior to becoming Director of Operations, Ms. Jenkins was the Director of eBanking Strategic Initiatives.  In that role, she was responsible for developing and implementing the operational and technical processes to support the Bank’s affinity banking strategy.  This included managing the various third party relationships hired to develop the new website, integrating the technical components of the website with the Bank’s current technology platform, streamlining the online account opening process, and the development of internal controls to ensure this channel remains compliant with the current regulations.

Prior to joining Northeast Bank, Ms. Jenkins was at Sovereign Bank, where she led a team of internal consultants for its parent, Banco Santander, who were responsible for planning, organizing and implementing enterprise-wide new technology systems for the company. Ms. Jenkins has held senior operations and technology positions at Mt. Washington Bank and Abington Savings Bank. She earned her B.A. in Management from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Robert Johnson, Treasurer, Community Banking Division

Rob is responsible for asset liability management, the investment portfolio, borrowing relationships and budgeting and forecasting as treasurer of the Community Banking Division. Prior to the Company’s merger, Rob served as the Chief Financial Officer of Northeast Bancorp and Northeast Bank from 2001- 2010. Prior to joining the company, he held senior level accounting positions with Citibank (Maine), NA (a de novo banking subsidiary of Citigroup) and its successor Atlantic Bank, Pepperell Bank & Trust, and TD Bank’s predecessor Banknorth in its mortgage division. 

He started his business career with KPMG in its Portland, Maine office in 1979. Rob serves on the board of directors of the Volunteers of America Northern New England.     Rob received his B.A. from the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and his M.B.A. from Stetson University in Deland, FL.  He holds the designation of Certified Public Accountant.

James Krumsiek, Esq., Managing Director

Jim Krumsiek is Legal Counsel at Northeast Bank, and has practiced law in Massachusetts for over 20 years. Prior to joining Northeast Bank in 2011, he was in private practice in Boston with the firm of Perry, Krumsiek and Jack, LLP, where his practice focused primarily on commercial transactions, including acquisitions, refinances, and restructuring of debt secured by real and/or personal property. Prior to joining Perry, Krumsiek and Jack, LLP, Mr. Krumsiek was in-house counsel to Capital Crossing Bank in Boston.

Before joining Capital Crossing in 2000, he was in private practice with several firms later became a partner at Riemer & Braunstein, LLP. Mr. Krumsiek holds a J.D. from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, and a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.  He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association in 1989 and the United States District Court of Massachusetts in 1990.

Jason Stephens, Corporate Controller

Jay Stephens joined Northeast Bancorp in November of 2011 as the Company’s corporate controller.  Mr. Stephens is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts and a member of the AICPA.  Prior to joining Northeast Bancorp, he was a manager at McGladrey and Pullen, LLP in Boston.  There, he spent seven years serving companies in the financial services industry as external auditor and consultant.

Mr. Stephens is a cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, there he earned his B.B.A.

Blackwell ("Bojay") Taylor, Managing Director

Bojay Taylor is the Director of Acquisitions at Northeast Bank, evaluating loan purchasing opportunities and managing all aspects of the loan purchasing transaction process.  Prior to joining Northeast Bank in 2010, he held senior management positions at Capital Crossing Servicing Company and its predecessor firms, most recently as Senior Vice President and Director of Investment Strategy and Analytics. Prior to joining Capital Crossing in 2001, he worked as a strategist at Viant Corporation and as a credit analyst at FleetBoston Financial.

He holds a B.A. in Engineering from Trinity College in Hartford, CT and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Justin Wahls, Managing Director

Prior to working at CarVal Investors, Mr. Wahls was an Associate with Lake Pacific Partners, a middle-market private equity firm. He received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois.
