Northeast Bank Donates $10,000 for COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Lewiston, ME (April 14, 2020) - Northeast Bank (the “Bank”) announced today a $10,000 donation to support the COVID-19 relief efforts of five organizations located in Maine and Massachusetts. This commitment is in addition to the Bank’s $2,500 pledge to the Maine Banker’s Association’s ‘Maine Banks for Food Banks’ campaign that raised a total of $61,000 for local food pantries in every county across the state of Maine.

In addition, the Bank recently donated a supply of N95 and regular facemasks to CMMC’s COVID-19 response unit, to support local healthcare workers who serve on the front lines every day.

“As we monitor the evolving COVID-19 developments, we are inspired everyday by local non-profit organizations and healthcare workers stepping up to support our communities,” said Robert Banaski, Director of Community Banking. “We are proud to provide both volunteer and monetary support to these organizations and thank them for their service.”

The Bank’s $10,000 donation will support the following five organizations in their COVID-19 response efforts.

Trinity Jubilee Center - Lewiston-Auburn, Maine

Serving more than 1,000 people per week, the Trinity Jubilee Center addresses the unmet needs of underserved people in Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn area through collaboration with local, state, and federal organizations, as well as other agencies and churches. They meet these needs through services that include a Meals Program, Food Pantry, Outreach, a Warming Center, and Refugee Assistance.

The Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston remains open during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Center's soup kitchen has distributed more than 3,000 bagged lunches, the food pantry has distributed more than 600 bags of groceries, the shelter welcomes the homeless, and the resource center and refugee integration program continue to provide phone appointments to assist with job applications, housing forms, and other paperwork and in-person assistance with socks, personal hygiene items, coats, and other supplies.

Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program – Brunswick, Maine

Midcoast Hunger Prevention Program served its first meal in 1983 out of the basement of a local church. Their mission is to provide hungry people with access to healthy food, work to improve the quality of their lives by partnering with others and serve them in a manner that recognizes their dignity.
